Metal Worx Double Trouble Review - Weighty and Beautiful

After previously reviewing a few stainless steel sex toys and being woefully underwhelmed, I’d made up my mind that they weren’t for me. That was until I put the Metal Worx Double Trouble plug in my butt and was forced to orgasm change my mind.

Metal Worx Double Trouble by Pipedream ($45.59)

  • Weight: 1.5 lb

Turn ons

All of the toys in Pipedream’s Metal Worx line come packaged in these James Bond-esque padded storage cases. I always feel like a spy receiving stolen intelligence when I pick it up.

This motherfucker is heavy. At 1.5lbs it is the heaviest product we’ve ever reviewed – it’s even heavier than the Fleshjack Sword – and it even weighs more than your iPad. In certain situations, this can be a detriment but I loved it. The weight gave it a sense of gravitas and presence; isn’t that what you want in a piece of metal you’re going to stick in your butt?

I love the overall design of the toy, it’s very thoughtful. I actually enjoyed the shape of this one just a little more than the Renegade anal vibrator. I love how it mimics the natural shape of your index and pointer fingers when fingering. It’s a very natural position that looks stunning cast in steel.

Although it costs under $50, there are lots of little premium pluses. First of all, that weight; this bad boy is solid steel. When you drop Double Trouble, it’s your floor that breaks, not the other way around. Secondly, that finish is stunning. It doesn’t show great under our photo set up but this thing is polished to a high-gloss bit of perfection.

The finish not only looks pretty but feels great. It’s super smooth and makes a well-lubed insertion very easy.

I will admit, the size of the Double Trouble is a bit much. I definitely felt some stretching happening as it was just outside my size comfort zone. It’s much bigger than the Ella By Lelo but about the same total circumference as the Doc Johnson Super 7”. Regardless, it inserts easy and feels really comfortable inserted. Unlike the Metal Worx Love Plug, it was comfortable to wear for long periods and its rounder design made it more comfortable between the cheeks.

At the end of the Double Trouble there’s a big ring to make using it easier. It’s a useful design element that helps negate the fact that it gets so damn slippery because it’s polished surface.

The “thumb” nub is surprisingly handy. It feels better as you get more aroused and your prostate swells. Pressing down harder at orgasm is one choice you won’t regret.

This is a really versatile sex toy. While I used it for my prostate, it’s bound to work well for your g-spot, clit and for using it to trust.

As with all metal toys temperature play is a major feature. I didn’t plan it but I washed the toy with really warm water before I used it. When I put it in the heat added all types of wonderful sensations.

It’s crazy easy to clean and sterilize. Because you can sterilize it and you can’t break it easily, it’s a great to use with multiple partners.

Turn offs

Despite its generally high build quality and design, it has this weird rough area near where the two protrusions meet. Looking at it, I thought it would be problem but it’s actually smooth, just not as smooth as the rest of it. I kind of wish they’d give the handle a similar, rougher texture to help with gripping.

Sitting with the Double Trouble inserted is a no-go. Because it’s hard, sitting with it inserted is an incredibly uncomfortable affair due to the thumb nub. I was able to lean back and sit comfortably but you probably won’t be able to sit in a chair with it in for very long.

Other info

You are definitely going to want to wait until you’re turned on to use this toy. The sensations can be very intense. The first time I used the toy, I wasn’t quite turned on because I was used to having the toy get me there and it made the experience really uncomfortable. The second time, I was really horned up and ready to go. That time – and each one since – everything was wonderful.

It gets really slippery when lubed up. This isn’t a problem because it makes insertion easier and looks beautiful but it is a problem because it can be slippery in your hands. Since the benefits outweigh the detriments, I figured I’d just make it a not instead of a con.

Because of the weight, I thought it would fall out when standing up but it didn’t.

If you’re going to use it in water, you’ll need silicone or oil-based lube. When Double Trouble gets wet, it catches on the skin very easily.

Bottom Line

Metal Worx Double Trouble by Pipedream is a mind-changer. From the shape to the design to the mirror finish, it’s great toy.
