Courtney Trouble Fan Club Review (Trouble Films)
Yesterday, I was on Tumblr (like always) and saw a GIF set of a Ted Talk about porn. I don’t remember the name of the speaker or the details, but the gist was that consuming porn perpetuates a system of oppression, exploitation and human trafficking.
By and large, he’s right: The mainstream smut industry is awful, from everything I’ve heard. But nameless Ted talker probably doesn’t know about Courtney Trouble, queer porn pioneer and darling of the indie porn scene. Her videos, like “Courtney Trouble Fan Club: Volume One,” are everything porn should be: fun, non-exploitive and inclusive of queers like you and me.
The video is about two hours of vignettes starring Trouble herself, either solo or in queer scenes. When I say queer, I don’t mean girl-on-girl in the usual sense. With one notable exception: this is actual porn of girls fucking girls because that’s who they love fucking, not to please the straight cismale gaze. The exception is the first scene, between Trouble and FTM porn star Billy Castro (who is an awesome person in his own right, but that’s another article).
In addition to being genuinely queer, there’s a ton of diversity in this video. I always hate saying “real people” in regards to porn or modeling, but I have to say that nobody in this video looks like your typical porn star. Courtney herself is a gorgeous big woman, complete with a big belly, thick thighs and rolls. She’s proud of her body but doesn’t allow herself to be fetishized. The other stars have a variety of ethnicities and body types, none of which are fetishized. It’s refreshing to see, and also pretty hot, too.
Enough of this social justice, though; what you really want to know is “Can I fap to this?” The answer is a resounding yes. If you are like me and enjoy seeing beautiful people performing acts they genuinely enjoy, then you’ll love “Courtney Trouble Fan Club.” Everybody really does look like they’re having fun: People make mistakes, almost cum then lose it, laugh, and make the most fantastic-o-faces. There are plenty of strap-ons for those of you who like to see a good old-fashioned dicking, and Hitachi action for those of you who like to hear women scream. There isn’t any roleplaying or stories to be seen, it’s just straight-up good sex, so look elsewhere if you need a narrative in order to get into it.
On the kinkier side, there is a lot of fisting in this video, which I understand not everybody likes. I don’t think there’s one video in this entire movie when somebody’s hand doesn’t end up inside somebody. Interestingly enough, gloves are always worn during fisting scenes. It’s common-sense safe sex, but it’s rare enough in most porn to make it noteworthy. There also is a good deal of slapping and punching, but it’s not degrading violence. Trouble’s cries of delight with every hit make it clear she loves it rough. Even so, if hitting bothers you, stay away.
I wish there was more porn like this out there, and that I had it sooner. What usually steers me away from mainstream porn is the artifice of it, the way it exploits its workers and the fact that it caters to a set of the population I feel increasingly alienated from. “Courtney Trouble Fan Club” is the kind of porn I would make for myself, if I were able. If you want genuine queer porn that doesn’t leave a bad aftertaste in your mouth, then I cannot recommend this video enough.
